Never Too Late
Daily Prompt: Is there a person you should’ve thanked, but never had the chance? Is there someone who helped you along the way without even realizing it? Here’s your chance to express your belated gratitude.
I thank all of the people in my life who support it — my gardener who always does extra stuff in the yard and always forgets to charge me, my accountant who’s helped me through the complicated maze of employing caretakers for my mother, my financial advisor who has kept me afloat during my retirement, my doctor who gives a shit about me in a personal way, my hubby who loves me unconditionally for some unknown reason, my handyman who does everything well and never overcharges me even though we never talk money beforehand, my banker who has done a ton of account changes to help me with Mom’s financial situation, and most importantly my dog who is with me nearly every single second of every day — sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a pesty way, but what a creature to be so fascinated in someone as miserable as I am. He makes me feel loved and important and needed. I even thank the people who are supporting my medical marijuana certification — these are people who “get it”, and for that I’m so very grateful.
I thank Shunryu Suzuki for his talks in Zen Mind Beginner’s Mind. He says “It’s never too late to do something significant with your life. You just have to keep practicing without expectation.” That encouragement keeps my practice going every day and is part of the formula in my life that’s brought me a renewed sense of creativity and wonder in the world.
I thank WordPress and the Daily Prompt and whatever spirits led me to creating a blog here. The Daily Prompt makes me look forward to my mornings, and starts my day off with writing. What more spectacular way to start ones day. There is some sort of emptiness in my life that this has filled — maybe it’s not the writing, maybe it’s drinking coffee and saying good morning to all of my other Daily Prompters. It makes me feel connected to the world. It’s very nice. Thank you.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
