Daily Prompt: Spring! No, Winter! No, Spring!

Today is an unbelievably amazing day.  The temperature outside is 48 degrees Fahrenheit, but it feels like 60.  It’s so warm that when I walk the Pup today I’ll have to wear my snowshoes because the heat has softened the snow.  There’s still about 6 inches of snow left from the original 4 feet, and the last of the ice on my roof is dripping.  I see precious patches of muddy ground starting to show.  Even the birds are out today, singing and dancing “It’s finally coming, it’s finally coming!”

When the snow finally melts, all of its secrets will be exposed:  beer cans, candy wrappers, plastic bags, dead bodies, who knows?

The winter that I was going through cancer treatments was very similar to this winter.  We had one or two huge snow storms very early in the season, and then we never saw the ground again until spring.  When the snow melted, I was surprised to find underneath a Christmas present from my sister-in-law.  The box of course was completely soaked and crushed, but the content was perfect.  It was a beautiful clay Buddha plaque which is now one of the few very special possessions in my life.

Anyway, until all this snow is gone and pretty things start to grow, spring will not have come.  We’re close, but no cigars for the birds yet.

Tell us about a time things came this close to working out… but didn’t. What happened next? Would you like the chance to try again, or are you happy with how things eventually worked out?
But No Cigar

    1. Good for you! How sweet that must have felt to get fresh air. Hospitals are not good places for feeling good unless the drugs are good enough that you can imagine. May the wamth of the sun make the rest of your day grand! <3
