One of my favourite movies (The Matrix) compares humans to a virus. How instead of coming to an equilibrium with our environment, we consume and we consume until we’ve destroyed our environment and have to move on to a new environment in order to survive. Your story reminds me of this. Let’s hope we as a species learn this lesson before we’ve killed this planet, let alone any others.
